Lenka Hlávková (1974 - 2023)#

The Musicology and Art History section of the Academia Europaea mourns the tragic death of Lenka Hlávková (August 17, 1974 - December 21, 2023), a member of our Academy since 2019. She is one of the victims of the incomprehensible rampage at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague.

Lenka Hlávková was an internationally renowned musicologist who studied at the University of Prague and had been teaching there since 2004. As director and deputy director of the Institute of Musicology and in several major research projects, she took on great responsibility. Her research focused on the history and paleography of music before 1600, especially in Central Europe.

Lenka Hlávková leaves two school-age sons. Our heartfelt condolences are with Lenka’s grieving family.

The Section will keep her in lasting, honorable memory!

Ulrich Pfisterer, Chair of the Musicology and Art History Section
