- 2009 Paul Bunge Prize of the Hans R. Jenemann Foundation, issued by Deutsche Bunsen-Gesellschaft and Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker for “The Microscope and the Eye: A History of Reflections, 1740-1870”. (The international €7,500 award honors “seminal and lasting” publications in German, English or French in all fields of the history of scientific instruments.)
