* Since 2024 Member of the European Academy of Sciences (Eurasc) 
* 2019 - 2023 (with William Newman, IUB) Mellon Foundation Grant to fund a Sawyer Seminar at IU Bloomington: ““Rigor: control, analysis and synthesis in historical and systematic perspectives”, academic year 2020-21 ($225,000).
* 2009 Paul Bunge Prize of the Hans R. Jenemann Foundation, issued by Deutsche Bunsen-Gesellschaft and Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker for “The Microscope and the Eye: A History of Reflections, 1740-1870”. (The international €7,500 award honors “seminal and lasting” publications in German, English or French in all fields of the history of scientific instruments.)
