Honours and Awards
- 2021 Heijmans van den Bergh medal, a once-per-five year, most prestigious honorary distinction of the Netherlands Internal Medicine Society for her outstanding achievements in terms of science, education, governance and being a role model for young internists. Although this medal has been awarded 12 times before (since 1960), Professor Middeldorp was the first female internist on whom this medal was bestowed
- 2016 plenary Ham-Wasserman Lecture and received the accompanying award in recognition of pioneering work in inherited thrombophilia at the annual American Society of Hematology (ASH) meeting in San Diego
- 2012 VIDI innovative research grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) “Thrombophilia and reproduction: mechanisms and targeted interventions”
- 2008 Clinical Established Investigator of the Netherlands Heart Foundation “Unravelling the common etiology of venous thrombosis and arterial cardiovascular disease”
