NOTICE: CALL FOR CANDIDATES FOR THE POSITION OF TREASURER OF THE ACADEMIA EUROPAEA#

The Board of Trustees now invite any eligible member of the Academia Europaea who would like to be considered, to submit their personal candidature for the position of Honorary Treasurer of the AE.

The closing date for receipt of candidates’ documentation is 3 October 2014 (by email to execsec@acadeuro.org).

Background#

Professor Elliott will formally end his full term at the AGM of 2015 (7 September). The intention to publish an open call to members of the AE was declared at the Annual Business meeting of members held in Barcelona on 16 July. Download the Regulations of the AE governing the position of Treasurer.

NOTE: The Treasurer does not have to be UK national, or resident in the UK.

Procedure#

• Please read the document "Role of the Treasurer" carefully.

• Any member who is interested and considers themselves suitable to fill the role of Treasurer, should send a short statement of in support of their candidacy to the Executive Secretary execsec@acadeuro.org , by the closing date. The personal statement should set out clearly and briefly the case and reason for their consideration. Please also attach a brief CV and full contact information.

• Please note: as the Treasurer will be a legally registered Director of the Academia Europaea Ltd and will be expected to become a formal signatory to our bank accounts, candidates should be of “good standing” and should not be or have been excluded from holding any equivalent position in their own country (for example being a bankrupt, or have having any legal action (extant or discharged) that would exclude them from holding such positions).

• After the closing date, the Board will scrutinise candidates’ dossiers and if necessary seek further information prior to any decision.

• The Board shall make a recommendation and if appropriate, will propose a shortlist to members for a ballot.

• In the event that no suitable candidate is declared at the closing date, the Board will undertake a search and if necessary appoint an ‘interim treasurer’ until such time as an election can be held in accordance with Regulations.
