  • 1991 PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology, Naples University Medical School Federico II
  • 1990 - 1994 Post-doctoral Fellow – Cornell University Medical School

Current position: Head of the Membrane Traffic and Pathogenesis Unit at Institut Pasteur, Paris

Scientific activities: Chiara Zurzolo is regularly invited to give lectures to international conferences: (eg. EMBO workshops and meetings, Gordon Research Conferences, ASCB, FASEB meetings, PRION and Neuroscience Societies). In the last five years she has got more than 40 international symposia invitations. She has given about 30 lectures at leading international institutions (eg. “Outstanding Women in Science” Seminar, University of Geneva, Switzerland, UCL London UK, MRC Cambridge UK, Columbia University NY USA, Harvard University Boston USA).

Reviewer for several Journal including Nature, Science, Cell and EMBO family journals

Teaching: She is very active in teaching, organizing several cell biol courses for intenational students at IP Paris and HK and teaches at ENS and EMBO. She has mentored more than 50 PhD students and postdocs, who published at least a couple of papers as first authors and the majority continuing a successful career in science (industry, academy, consultancy). She has been member of more 30 PhD and HDR thesis committees
