1. Zeshui Xu, Intuitionistic fuzzy aggregation operators. IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, 15 (2007): 1179-1187. (First developed a series of aggregation operators from the perspective of fusion of intuitionistic fuzzy information, which laid a strong foundation for further scientific computation and dealt with the “bottleneck” problems in the intuitionistic fuzzy set theory. This paper presented a new idea of aggregation operators transforming from the real numbers to the intuitionistic fuzzy information, and created a new direction of fuzzy information fusion characterized by intuitionistic fuzzy sets. This paper received the award for China’s Most Influential Hundred International Papers in 2008, and ranked first among all the papers published in this journal after 2007.) [2244 citations in Google Scholar, ESI highly cited paper]

2. Zeshui Xu, Ronald R. Yager, Some geometric aggregation operators based on intuitionistic fuzzy sets. International Journal of General Systems, 35 (2006): 417-433. (First proposed a series of intuitionistic fuzzy geometric aggregation operators to fuse intuitionistic fuzzy information characterized by a membership function and a non-membership function, which are more consistent with human computational cognition. The sorting rule given in this paper was named “Xu-Yager’s Order” by a famous researcher Professor H. Bustince and an academician of Czech Academy Sciences R. Mesiar who considered it as important as classical lexicographical ordering commented in the journal: Fuzzy Sets and Systems (Vol. 220, pp. 69-77). This paper ranked first among all the papers published in this journal after 2006.) [2099 citations in Google Scholar, ESI highly cited paper]

3. Meimei Xia, Zeshui Xu. Hesitant fuzzy information aggregation in decision making. International Journal of Approximate Reasoning, 2011, 52(3): 395-407. (Developed a series of aggregation operators for hesitant fuzzy information and discussed the correlations among the aggregation operators, which enriched the hesitant fuzzy theory system and provided a fundamental calculation tool for further study. The distinguished aggregation operators definitely improved the efficiency of hesitant fuzzy information aggregation, which boosted the theory about complex information fusion and the application in decision-making.) 4. Zeshui Xu, Meimei Xia. Distance and similarity measures for hesitant fuzzy sets. Information Sciences, 2011, 181(11): 2128-2138. (Proposed a variety of distance measures and similarity measures for hesitant fuzzy set, which alleviated the influence of unduly large (or small) deviations on the aggregation results by assigning them low (or high) weights. The study not only improved the measurement system of hesitant fuzzy sets, but also made the decision-making results more accurate. Additionally, the paper has been noted and cited widely by a large number of scholars all over the world, which lay a solid foundation for the development of complex information-based decision-making.) [1079 citations in Google Scholar, ESI highly cited paper]

5. Zeshui Xu. A method based on linguistic aggregation operators for group decision making with linguistic preference relations. Information Sciences, 166 (2004): 19-30. (First proposed some operational laws and developed some aggregation operators for linguistic variables, which laid a solid foundation for tackling linguistic preference relations. Based on the proposed operators, a practical method for group decision-making with linguistic preference relations was also developed with no loss of information. Since it is the pioneering work in the field of linguistic decision making, this paper received great concerns of researchers.) [934 citations in Google Scholar, ESI highly cited paper]

6. Zeshui Xu. Intuitionistic preference relations and their application in group decision making. Information Sciences, 2007, 177 (11): 2363-2379. (Fist to propose intuitionistic preference relation, consistent intuitionistic preference relation, incomplete intuitionistic preference relation and acceptable intuitionistic preference relation. Group decision-making methods based on intuitionistic preference relations and incomplete intuitionistic preference relations were first introduced to rank and select alternatives. As one of groundbreaking works in the field of intuitionistic fuzzy sets, this paper not only creatively constructed a complex information expression pattern, but also largely promoted the development of group decision-making under uncertainty.) [895 citations in Google Scholar, ESI highly cited paper]

7. Qi Pang, Hai Wang, Zeshui Xu. Probabilistic linguistic term sets in multi-attribute group decision making. Information Sciences, 2016, 369, 128-143. (First to propose the probabilistic linguistic term set, which can better reflect the uncertain information of decision-makers. This paper put forward some operational laws and aggregation operators for probabilistic linguistic term sets to solve the problems of calculating incomplete probabilistic information of linguistic terms in decision making, which enriched the theory of complex information fusion.) [624 citations in Google Scholar, ESI highly cited paper, ESI hot paper]

8. Peijia Ren, Zeshui Xu, Xunjie Gou. Pythagorean fuzzy TODIM approach to multi-criteria decision making. Applied Soft Computing, 2016, 42: 246-259. (First to extend the TODIM approach to solve the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problems with Pythagorean fuzzy information, which is very useful to cope with the MCDM problems that consider the decision makers’ psychological behaviors. This paper analyzed how the risk attitudes of the decision-makers exert the influence on the results of MCDM, which developed the complex information techniques in uncertain circumstances.) [442 citations in Google Scholar, ESI highly cited paper, ESI hot paper]

9. Xunjie Gou, Zeshui Xu, Huchang Liao. Hesitant fuzzy linguistic entropy and cross-entropy measures and alternative queuing method for multiple criteria decision making. Information Sciences, 2017, 388-389: 225-246. (First to propose some hesitant fuzzy linguistic entropy and cross-entropy measures, and establish a model for determining the criteria weights, which consider both the individual effect of each hesitant fuzzy linguistic element (HFLE) and the interactive effect between any two HFLEs with respect to each criterion. On this basis, a hesitant fuzzy linguistic alternative queuing method to deal with the MCDM problems was further developed. This paper provided a solid foundation for measuring uncertainty within complex linguistic information.) [154 citations in Google Scholar, ESI highly cited paper, ESI hot paper]

10. Xingli Wu, Huchang Liao, Zeshui Xu, Arian Hafezalkotob, Francisco Herrera. Probabilistic linguistic MULTIMOORA: A multi-criteria decision making method based on the probabilistic linguistic expectation function and the improved Borda rule. IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, 2018, 26(6): 3688-3702. (Developed a probabilistic linguistic MULTIMOORA method with the combined weights and the improved Borda theory to solve the multi-experts multi-criteria decision-making problems with linguistic evaluations, which can consider both the subjective opinions and the correlation between criteria.)
