Burkhard Wilking - Biography#


Professor Dr. Burkhard Wilking is a mathematician working in differential and Riemannian geometry as well as in the theory of geometric evolution equations. He received his Ph. D. from the University of Muenster in 1998. After being a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania from 1999-2000 he became an Assistant Professor, 2001 - 2002, and accepted a position as Full Professor at the University of Muenster in 2002.

His fundamental contributions have prompted several honors, particularly the Leibniz Prize in 2009. Professor Dr. Wilking is also a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
