Honours and Awards
  • 1997 Honorary degree in chemical engineering from the University of Bratislava in order to mark the 60th anniversary of the birth of the degree course in technology.
  • 2001 Prize in Berlin for "Scientific achievements in oxidation catalysis" by the International Committee of oxidation catalysis during the World Congress of LVO catalysis together with Robert Grasselli
  • 2012 - 2017 Scientific member of Organization of prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW)
  • 2014 - 2017 President of the Academy of Science of Bologna
  • He received several prizes from the Italian Chemical Society (PINO, MAROTTA, PATERNO' medals)
