Fabrizio Storti - Biography#

Fabrizio Storti was born in La Spezia (Italy) on November 12th, 1964. He is currently Associate Professor of Structural Geology and Tectonics at the Earth Sciences Department of the Parma University, Italy. In 1995 he had a Ph.D. in Structural Geology from the Earth Sciences Department of the Pisa University, Italy. His research interests include:

(i) the evolution of fault-related folds, of their deformation patterns, and of the associated implications for fluid flow (using geometric-kinematic modeling, field work and statistical data analysis);
(ii) the evolution of fault zones and fault systems, with implications for permeability and fluid flow (using field work and statistical data analysis, laser diffraction granulometry, Hg porosimetry, in situ permeability, and optical morphometry);
(iii) the evolution of thrust and fold belts and their interaction with surface processes (using both field work and analogue modeling);
(iv) the evolution of passive margins, with particular emphasis on the Ross Sea region, Antarctica (using field work and interpretation of reflection seismic profiles). Fabrizio Storti has being involved in several international scientific collaborations.

He published 80 scientific papers in peer reviewed journals, 72 of them in international ones. He authored 194 presentations at scientific congresses, where he frequently organized thematic sessions. Fabrizio Storti was awarded for the best paper published in the Geological Society of Italy Bulletin, in 1997. He was also awarded as best reviewer 2007 by the Journal of Structural Geology.

Fabrizio Storti is President of the Tectonics and Structural Geology Division (TS) of the European Geoscience Union (EGU) for the period 2009-2013, Editor-in-Chief of Tectonophysics for the term 2010-2012, and member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Journal of Structural Geology (2003 to present) and of The Open Petroleum Engineering Journal (2008 to present).

He was a member of the ERC Panel PE10-Earth System Science - 2012.
