She has scientific exchanges with several foreigner colleagues such as: Frank Fincham (Florida State University, US); Vivian Vignoles (University of Sussex, England); Guy Bodenmann (University of Zurich, Switzerland); Thomas Bradbury (University of California, US); Carles Pérez Testor (Universidad Roman Llull, Barcelona, Spain); David Olson (University of Minnesota, US); Manfred Hofer (University of Mannheim, Germany); Luciano L’Abate (University of Atlanta, US); Jesus Palacios (University of Sevillle, Spain); Robert Emery (The University of Virginia, US).

She authored about two hundred and fifty papers (published on national and international indexed scientific journals) and several books. Together with Vittorio Cigoli, she developed a new and innovative perspective for the study of family bonds, the Relational-Symbolic Model. The model is internationally well known.
