  • Director of Center for Macroecology, Evolution and Climate (2010-present) established with a personal grant from Danish National Research Foundation. Currently >50 scientists and technical & administrative staff with an annual turnaround budget of >30 million DKK.
  • Director of the Villum Center for Global Mountain Biodiversity. (2020-onwards) established with a personal grant from the Villum Foundation. Currently >15 scientists and technical & administrative staff with an annual turnaround budget of >10 million DKK.
  • Presidency (Elect, Current, Past) of the International Biogeography Society (January 2014-2019); including leading the society administration in Wisconsin, staff and economy.
  • Leader of the Danish Universities IPBES office in Denmark (2016-present); (IPBES, i.e., the Intergovermental Panel for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services) on behalf of all of the Danish Universities on mandate from the rectors.

REVIEW ORGANIZATION AND EXECUTION
  • One of the principal force, as scientific advisor to the EU Precidency, in building the transparent quality-check and peer-review system now used by the UN Biodiversity panel (IPBES) to quality check the IPBES scientific consensus reports based on 10,000s papers and involving thousands of scientists.
  • As Editor-in-Chief of the journal Ecography (2004-2014), modernizing the review system, the editorial office, administration and 30 editors to handle time-effeciently >1000 ms submitted per year introducing a novel combination of external peer review with administrative and editorial decision using transparent check-and-balance processes.

INVITED TALKS AND ORGANIZING OF CONFERENCE AND MEETINGS

Invited talks currently 10 per year with > 150 in total including 50 plenary addresses at conferences within the fields of biology, economy and science in general. Organizing >10 International conferences, >20 Conference symposium and 35 workshops.
