Pille Pruulmann-Vengerfeldt - Biography#


Dr. Pruulmann-Vengerfeldt received her BA in Public Relations in 2001, her MA in Media and Communications in 2002 and her PhD in Media and Communications in 2006, all from the University of Tartu. After being an associate professor in media studies at the University of Tartu, she became senior lecturer and then professor in media and communication at Malmö University.

She has served in a number of functions on the scientific community on a European level, e.g. as head of the board for the European Consortium of Communication Research Junior Scholars Network, as section chair for the “Audience and Reception Studies” section of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA), and as the international director of the ECREA Euopean Media and Communication Doctoral Summer School.

She has served as the PhD program director in University of Tartu, and has supervised 9 PhD theses. In addition, she has been part of defense committees in Estonia, Latvia and Sweden.

Regarding her experience as a research leader, she has been a project leader or local country node leader for two EU funded research projects, one national research project, three policy-oriented national cooperation projects, and two international network projects. She has published 20 journal articles, 29 book peer-reviewed chapters with internationally recognised publishers, 30 book peer-reviewed chapters with local publishers (Estonian, German, Slovenian), has served as main editor for two books and co-editor for 11 books.
