  • Principal investigator of the Romanian Geo-Ecocentre River- Delta-Sea system (2003-2006), which has functioned as catalyst for the setup of EU ESFRI DANUBIUS-RI “International Centre for Advanced Studies for River-Sea Systems”, a Flagship Project within the European Strategy for the Danube Region
  • Author or co-author of 20 books and book chapters, and more than 100 main relevant publications in marine, riverine and deltaic geology, sedimentology and management strategies in national and international journals
