  • Molecular evolution: emphasis on the evolution of gene families (Hox, hedgehog and other developmental genes)
  • Comparative genomics: fish-specific genome duplication, gene-and-genome duplications
  • Evo-devo: comparative work on cichlids, zebrafish, medaka
