PUBLICATIONS & RESEARCH INTERESTS

I have published 90 papers in the primary literature. My papers include senior-author papers in Science, Nature, Nature Communications, Nature Ecology & Evolution and Current Biology, along with 13 papers in Ecology Letters, 10 in Journal of Applied Ecology and 5 in Proceedings of the Royal Society, Series B. Research is focused on the community ecology of natural and managed ecosystems, and the main approach is to use ecological networks as a tool to ask questions about impacts of environmental change on ecological communities and the ecosystem services they provide. I am a leader in the field of ecological networks and use a network approach in both pure and applied contexts. I also have high impact papers in other fields (e.g. Baude et al. 2016 on nectar declines published in Nature). While primarily a field ecologist, I have worked closely with theoreticians. I work in a variety of research fields, including pollination ecology, agro-ecology, invasion ecology, urban ecology and restoration ecology. Field sites include English meadows, Hawaiian swamps, Scottish islands, farms and urban areas.
