Chris Meisinger - Biography#


Chris Meisinger is a preeminent European scientist in mitochondrial biogenesis and signalling with world-wide reputation. He studied chemistry and received his PhD with top honors in anatomy/neurobiology. Beginning with his postdoctoral work and as group leader at the University of Freiburg he started his outstanding research on mitochondria, their proteome and signalling. He received numerous calls for professorships at European Universities and took a professorship at Freiburg University (Germany). After 18 months of visiting professor at the University of Bern (Switzerland), he was promoted to full Professor in Freiburg and moved into exciting questions of the mitochondrial stress response and metabolic adaptation, again pioneering major findings for the field. He has an h-factor 70, was invited to a large number of lectures and performes outstanding training of early career scientists.
