Christiane Marchello-Nizia - Biography#


Prof. Marchello-Nizia, after having succeeded in the competitive examination of the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Fontenay - Saint-Cloud, obtained the agrégation of grammar and her doctoral degree in 1975. She then followed a classical professional path in the best French university institutions. Assistant Professor at the Sorbonne from 1966 to 1970, she was appointed Associate Professor at the ENS de Fontenay from 1970 to 1984, then Full Professor in the same institution, which moved to Lyon in 2000.

In addition to her professional career in France, she has spent long periods as a visiting scholar and visiting professor in many other countries, where she has provided regular teaching: in Canada (Montreal), Morocco (Meknes), Denmark (Aarhus), in Finland repeatedly (Jyväskylä, Helsinki, Turtur), Russia (Moscow), Belgium (Antwerp, Leuven), the United States (Princeton, Yale), Italy (Naples, Rome), Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto), the United Kingdom (Cambridge), and Germany (Tübingen).
