• 2009 - Professor emeritus for Mathematical Logics and Formal Languages at Technische Universität Wien

Academic History:

• 1965 Dr. phil. (PhD) from Universität Wien
• 1963 – 1971 Researcher at IBM Labor Wien
• 1967/68 Visiting assistant professor at Michigan State University, USA (for 9 months)
• 1970 Researcher at University of Calgary, Canada (for 2 months)
• 1971 – 2009 o. Univ. Prof. (full professor) for Mathematical Logics and Formal Languages at Technische Universität Wien
• 1994 - Visiting professor at Immanuel – Kant – Universität zu Königsberg, Russia (2 weeks a year)
• Visitig professor at University of Turku, Finland and University of Szeged, Hungary

Apart from the universities mentioned above, numerous visits to other universities all over the Europe, as well as lectures, invited lectures and program committee memberships, as well as chairs, in international conferences. For instance, during 1995-2006 he had 83 visiting lectures at foreign universities and conferences.
