Academic career:
  • 1981-1986 studied at Department of Japanese and Korean Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies, Faculty of Philology, University of Warsaw. In 1983 won 1st prize in the Japanese Speech Contest organized by Japanese Embassy and Polish-Japanese Friendship Society
  • 11.07.1986 M.A. in Japanese Studies. M.A. Department of Japanese and Korean Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies, Faculty of Philology, University of Warsaw
  • 1987-1990 studied at Faculty of Humanities, Osaka City University as Japanese Government Scholarship student.
  • 20.03.1990 M.A. in Humanities. Specialty: Japanese religion and philosophy

  • 15.12. 2004 the scientific title of doktor habilitowany (assistant professor) in philosophy. (Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Science). The title of dissertation: "Filozofia zen" (Philosophy of Zen)
  • 1.10.2006 – 30.09.2018 employed at Department of Japanese and Chinese Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies, Jagiellonian University (professor of Jagiellonian University)
  • 1.06. 2008 received a post of professor of University of Warsaw
  • From 2012 a member of Editorial Board of „Analecta Nipponica”, Journal of Polish Association for Japanese Studies
