Tania Kouteva/Kuteva is Full Professor of English Linguistics at Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf and a Professorial Research Associate of SOAS, University of London. She has been a Visiting Professor at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Leipzig, Invited Scholar at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Studies (NIAS), Wassenaar, The Netherlands, a Visiting Professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and an Alexander von Humboldt Visiting Professor at UCL and SOAS, University of London. Her main interests include grammaticalization, linguistic typology, language evolution and discourse grammar. She is the author and co-author (of Bernd Heine) of two books published with Cambridge University Press and three with Oxford University Press. She has published – on her own as well as jointly with Bernd Heine, Bernard Comrie, Gunther Kaltenböck, Chris Sinha, Seongha Rhee, and others – numerous research articles in some of the most prominent international journals in the field of linguistics.
