László P. Kollár - Biography#


Laszlo P. Kollár received his Diploma, Ph.D and Habilitation degrees from the Technical University of Budapest, all in Civil Engineering, and obtained his Doctor of Sciences degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. After graduation he worked in the Hungarian Bridge Design Bureau, and in 1989 joined the faculty of his alma mater, where, currently, he is a professor in the Department of Architecture. He has also served as Visiting Professor in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and in the Department of Civil Engineering at Stanford University. He was elected a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2007. He is currently the president of the European Society for Composite Materials. He has served as a consultant to industry on reinforced concrete structures on the design of steel as well as composite bridges. He is the author of three books and over 120 technical papers. Currently he is the president of the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund.
