Scientific impact:

Over 120 invited talks at international scientific meetings, over 10 patents or patent applications, 242 publications (PubMed), with H index 55 (Jalkanen S and Jalkanen ST, ISI Web of Knowledge), >10800 citations, 10 most cited ones are original articles (with 179-593 citations) except one, which is a review (cited 274 times), organizer or co-organizer of several international scientific meetings (for example 2 ESF (European Science Foundation) workshops, 2 Scandinavian Society for Immunology meetings, World Congress of Immunology, European Congress of Immunology, Keystone Meeting)

Societal impact:

I have made several discoveries with my group. They have led to founding of two biotech companies (BioTie Therapies, now publicly traded and Faron Pharmaceuticals). I am co-founder in both of them and they are exploiting my discoveries in clinical trials and at least so far very successfully.
