Lisa Hellman - Biography#

Graduated with a PhD from Stockholm University in December 2015, having spent time in (among others) China, Japan and UK. I then moved on to positions in Tokyo and Berlin respectively before starting my own research group at the Bonn Centre for Dependency and Slavery Studies in 2020. I was elected in international competition for the prestigious Pro Futura program, resulting in an associate professorship at Lund University. In 2022, I won a €1,8 million euro grant from the Swedish Research Council to become the PI building a research environment for early modern global history at Lund University.

I sit on the boards of international journals, publish in top-ranking historical journals, and have instigated two large and active international networks (NordGlob.org for Nordic Gobal History, starting in 2021; and the Global Diplomacy Network, starting in 2016).
