Biography#

Walter Greiner is full professor of Physics and Founding Director of the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt/Main, Germany. He received his Ph.D. in Physics in 1961 from Freiburg University and has honorary doctorate degrees from fourteen other Universities. He is a recipient of the Max Born Prize, the Otto Hahn Prize, and the Alexander von Humboldt Medal. He has carried out research on a wide spectrum of topics in Nuclear, Atomic, and Particle Physics, including studies on the prediction of superheavy nuclei as well as on the extension of the periodic system into new directions (strange matter and antimatter).
