Benjamin Goldlust - Biography#
A former student of the Ecole normale supérieure de la rue d’Ulm (Paris), agrégé of lettres classiques, Benjamin Goldlust is Professor of Latin Literature at Marie et Louis Pasteur University (named before Université de Franche-Comté), in Besançon (France). He is a specialist of Late Latin Literature and is working on rhetoric, poetics, and critical editions. He is an editor of Maximian, Corippus, and is responsible for the edition of Macrobius’ Saturnalia in the Collection des universités de France, Les Belles Lettres, Paris.
He also is the director of the axis "Poetological reflections, reception of poetry in late Antiquity and the Middle Ages" of GIRPAM (International Research Group on the Poetry of Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages) and participates in ANR-DFG PoBLAM project ("Latin biblical poetry from late Antiquity to the Middle Ages (4th - 13th centuries) between intertextuality and reception grammatical"). He is the author of approximately eighty articles and contributions, on Late Latinity and the following works : Rhétorique et poétique de Macrobe dans les Saturnales, Turnhout, 2010 ; Maximien, Élégies, suivies de l’Appendix Maximiani et de l’Épithalame pour Maximus d’Ennode de Pavie, introduction, traduction, commentaire, Paris, 2013; Corippe, Johannide, livre IV : introduction, édition critique et commentaire, Paris, 2017; Macrobe, Saturnales, livres II et III, texte établi par Benjamin Goldlust, traduit et commenté par Benjamin Goldlust avec la collaboration de Yann Berthelet, Nicolas Cavuoto-Denis, Thomas Guard, Bruno Poulle, Catherine Sensal (pour le livre III), Paris, 202. A former member of the Conseil national des universités (8th section) in France, a former president of the Latin commission for the entrance exam to the Ecole Normale Supérieure de la rue d'Ulm (Paris), he is, moreover, a member of the jury of the Ecole nationale des Chartes (Paris), member du Conseil d'administration de l'Association Guillaume Budé (Paris). He is the director of the Institute of Science and Technology of Antiquity (ISTA, UR 4011) in Besançon.
