Martin Gerzabek - Biography#


Martin H. Gerzabek was born 1961 in Vienna, he studied agriculture at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU), specialised in plant production. graduated (Dipl.-Ing.) in 1985, received the Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (plant nutrition) in 1987; obtained the habilitation (Assoc. Prof.) for soil science at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna in 1993.

Professional career: 1984 scientific staff member of the Austrian Research Centers (now AIT) at Seibersdorf, Institut for Agriculture; 1997 –2003 head of the department of environmental research (AIT); since 2001 full professor for environmental toxicology and isotopic methods at the University for Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna; 2003 - 2010 vice-rector for research, 2009-2010 acting rector, since II/2010 rector of the university.

448 scientific publications, thereof 227 peer reviewed journal articles (189 SCI), 4 books and 50 book chapters (Hirsch-Index: 31, more than 3800 citations; Google Scholar: Google Scholar: 370 publications (6000 citations, h-Index: 42, i10 Index: 131), more than 260 oral and poster presentations

Corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Vice-President of ICA-Association for European Life Science Universities, President of ICA-CASEE (Regional Network of Life Science Universities in Central and South-Eastern Europe); four doctor honoris causa.
