Peter Dolton - Curriculum Vitae#


Peter John Dolton, BA (Essex), MA (Warwick), PhD (Cambridge) is a professor of economics at the University of Sussex.

Previously, he was at Royal Holloway, London School of Economics, Institute of Education, University of Newcastle, University of Bristol, and University of Hull.

He has held visiting positions at Stanford University, University Paris II, and Australian National University.
He specializes in micro-econometric applications to labour, education and, more recently, health.
Many of his 124 papers were published in leading economic journals.

At the University of Newcastle upon Tyne he was Head of Department (September 1995 - August 1998) and Member of Senate (1997-1998).

At the Royal Holloway College, University of London (2005-2011), he is or has been 1) Chair of the Department Teaching Committee (2009-) and 2) Chair Department Research Committee (2005-2008).

He has been a frequent government adviser, most recently as a member of the Armed Forces Pay Review Body.

His current projects deal with:
  • An Evaluation of the experience of minimum wages in an economic downturn
  • An in-depth assessment of the impact of the recession on the distribution of Pay Settlements and earnings
  • The Geography of the National minimum wage
