Marco Di Renzo - Biography#


M. Di Renzo received the Laurea (cum laude and special mention for the outstanding academic career) and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Univ. of L’Aquila, Italy, in 2003 and 2007, and the Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches degree from Univ. Paris-Sud, France, in 2013. He is the Coordinator of the Commun. Networks Area of the DigiCosme Excellence Lab., Univ. Paris-Saclay, France.

Since 2010, he has been with the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), where he is a Research Director (CNRS Professor) in the Signals and Systems (L2S) Lab, Univ. Paris-Saclay - CNRS & CentraleSupelec, France. He is a Visiting Professor at Aalto Univ., Finland, and was a Visiting Professor at Univ. Technology Sydney, Australia & Univ. of L'Aquila, Italy.

He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Commun. Letters, served as an Editor of IEEE Trans. Commun. (2014-2019), IEEE Trans. Wireless Commun. (2017-2019), IEEE Commun. Letters (2012-2017), and served as the first Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Commun. Letters (2017-2019). He served as a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Vehicular Technol. Society and IEEE Commun. Society for 4 years, and is now a Distinguished Speaker of the IEEE Vehicular Technol. Society. During the last 5 years, he gave 25+ invited talks and tutorials every year.

He is the Project Coordinator (PC) of H2020 SURFER (Feb. 2022), PathFinder (May 2021), and the Training Coordinator of H2020 MetaWireless (Dec. 2020). He was the PC of H2020 5Gwireless, 5Gaura, MAPNET, REDESIGN. He is the Principal Investigator (PI) for CNRS of H2020 RISE-6G, ARIADNE, 5GSmartFact, 5GstepFWD, PAINLESS.

He received several awards. He is a Highly Cited Researcher, an IEEE Fellow, an IET Fellow, and an Ordinary Member of EASA. He published 350+ research articles that resulted in a 66+ h-index and 17,000+ citations.
