Freddy Delbaen - Biography#


Freddy Delbaen received his PhD at the Free University of Brussels in 1971 and immediately obtained a professorial position there, which he held until 1995 when he joined ETH Zürich.

His research has been recognised by numerous awards and was presented at dozens of international conferences.

Until 2008, he was responsible for Project 1 in FINRISK, an NCCR project of the Swiss Government.

He served as president of the Bachelier Finance Society (2004-2005) and, from 1989 to 2005, was member of the selection committee of the Belgian National Science Foundation (NFWO).

Delbaen has held visiting positions at many international institutions such as ULP-Strasbourg, Tokyo University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Hitotsubashi University, Tsukuba University, Osaka University, Kyoto University, University of Vienna, Technical University of Vienna, University of Pretoria, Université de Rennes, Université de Franche Comté (Besançon), Université Paris IX (Dauphine), Shandong University (Jinan), Academy of Sciences (Beijing), Fudan University (Shanghai), Fields Institute (Toronto), Ajou University (Suwon, South Korea), Oxford University, University of Calgary in Edmonton, Tokyo Metropolitan University.

He has published 100 research papers and monographs.
