Sean Cubitt - Biography#
Sean Cubitt is Honorary Professorial Fellow of the School of Culture and Communication, University of Melbourne. Previously Professor of Film and Television at Goldsmiths, University of London, Prof of Global Media and Communication at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton, he is Professorial Fellow in Media and Communications at the University of Melbourne. His publications include Digital Aesthetics, The Cinema Effect, EcoMedia, Finite Media, The Practice of Light, Anecdotal Evidence and two volumes of a trilogy on aesthetic politics, Truth and Good.
His current research is on ecocritique and aesthetic politics. He serves on the editorial boards of a number of journals including Screen, Cultural Politics, Animation and the International Journal of Cultural Politics., MIT Press. He is half of the thriller-writing team Lambert Nagle.
He has supervised thirty-six PhDs to completion, several including research by creative practice. Topics include digital arts and media, software studies, media and cultural philosophy, media for development, experimental media, games studies, collaborative and interactive arts and creative practice models. He has examined sixty-four PhD theses, again including many employing creative practice.
