László Csaba - Biography#


László CSABA (born: 1954, Budapest, Hungary) is a graduate of Corvinus University of Budapest, with a PhD (1984) and Doctor of Science (D.Sci.) degree (1996) from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Since 1997 he has been a professor of economics, first at Corvinus University, then (1999) at the University of Debrecen, then (since 2000) at the Central European University in Budapest. He held visiting professorships at Universitá Bocconi (Milan/Italy/1991), University of Helsinki (1993), Europa Universitaet Viadrina (Frankfurt/O/1997) and Freie Universität Berlin (1998-2000, five semesters in a row). He is on the editorial/advisory board of 9 international and 9 Hungarian academic journals. 11 doctoral students defended under his supervision of which two obtained habilitation. Author of 6 monographs and editor of 6 volumes in English. In 1990-1994 and 1996-1998 vice president, in 1999-2000 president of the European Association for Comparative Economic Studies, since 2007 member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
