Full CV (2023)

Daniela Corda is Director of the Institute of Protein Biochemistry of the National Research Council (CNR) in Naples, Italy. She obtained her first/master degree at the Perugia University, Italy, her PhD in Life Sciences at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, and joined the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA, for her post-doctoral studies. In 1987 she was one of the founders of the Consorzio Mario Negri Sud (Santa Maria Imbaro) where she served as Group-Leader, Head of the Department of Cell Biology and Oncology and Director of R&D until 2009, when she moved to the CNR in Naples. Her scientific interests are in signal transduction and membrane lipid dynamics. Her laboratory has pioneered the field of protein ADP-ribosylation, by demonstrating some of the physiological roles of this post-traslational modification; the laboratory has also identified the BARS protein and the components of the BARS-driven machinery leading to fission in membrane traffic and in Golgi complex partitioning during the cell cycle; finally she has identified the glycerophosphoinositols, a class of phosphoinositide metabolite, that are now recognized cell mediators and leads for anti-inflammatory drugs (see the full CV for relevant references). She became EMBO member in 2000. Since 1998 she has also been active in science policy focusing on career development and on gender-related issues within European organization such as the European Life Scientist Organisation (ELSO), the EC Marie Curie Programme, the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS). She is a member of the genSET Science Leaders Panel. Finally, she has participated in the preparation of the “Charter for reasearchers and Code of Conduct for the recruitment of researchers” as member of the Marie Curie Advisory Group. She has recently become the Delegate of the Italian Ministry of Research (MIUR) for Horizon 2020 (ERC, MSCA, FET programs) at the European Commission.
