Fedor Bogomolov - Biography#


Fedor Bogomolov received his Ph.D. from Moscow State University in 1974 and his Habilitation from the Steklov Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1983. He was a researcher at the Steklov Institute until 1994, until he joined the Courant Institute, NYU, as a Professor of Mathematics.

He has proved fundamental theorems in a broad range of fields, including algebraic, symplectic, and arithmetic geometry, representation theory and number theory. His has published more than 100 papers and was an editor of 6 books.

He has trained 20 Ph.D. students, some of whom hold faculty positions at top universities, e.g., Bruno di Oliveira and Paolo Cascini.

He has served on editorial boards of leading journals, such as Annals of Mathematics, Geometric and Functional Analysis, and is editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Mathematics.

His work has been honored by distinguished lectures, e.g., an ICM lecture and a lecture at the Taniguchi conference.
