A short laudatio by Peter Nijkamp#


A national of Italy, he is currently professor of economics at Bocconi University, Milan and acts as Scientific Director of the Fondazione Rodolfo Debenedetti. He is research fellow at CEPR, IZA and Igier-Bocconi. His field of research is labour economics, redistributive policies and political economics. His papers have been published on the American Economic Review, the Journal of economic Perspectives, Economic Policy, the European Economic Review, the Journal of Labour Economics, and the NBER macroeconomics Annual. He published books with Oxford University Press, MIT Press and Princeton University Press.

After obtaining his Ph.D in economics from New York University, he was senior economics at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development from 1987 to 1996, He was also consultant to the European Commission, International Monetary Fund, the ILO, the World Bank and the Italian Government. He is the founder of the economic policy watchdog website and the Scientific Director ofthe Festival of Economics in Trento.

Tito Michele Boeri is a recognized scholar on economics, with particular interest in labour markets, (re)distribution effects and political economic issues. He got his Ph.D from New York University and worked at several international organisations and research institutes abroad. He has published various original and insightful books on imperfect labour markets and on migration issues, as well as on the future of our welfare society in the light of structural again processes. In addition, he has published numerous articles in well-known, international refereed journals. He has also been active as a member of editorial boards and professional organisations in the economics field.
