ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

Master Degree (1974), PhD (1977) and Dr. Habil. Degree (1980) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Poznan University of Technology (PUT), Poznan, Poland (Major - Computer Science).

He worked at PUT, first at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and then at the Institute of Computing Science as a Professor, being also a Deputy Dean and later a Deputy Director and then Director of the Institute. He was also employed in parallel as a Professor at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, and then at the Bioorganic Chemistry Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

During his academic career he was several times on leave as a Visiting Professor in the most prestigious Institutions.

  • His research work has always been centred on the application of mathematical and algorithmic tools to model complex systems, in the industrial, computational and biological areas. Several ideas that he introduced have had a significant impact in the area of scheduling and in bioinformatics, sometimes going beyond the current state of the art.
  • Prof. Blazewicz is an Editor of the most important journals in the field as well as the Springer series of Handbooks in Information Systems
  • He was the Chair of over 30 international conferences
