Dragos Paul Aligica - Biography#


Currently Professor at the University of Bucharest; Senior Research Fellow at the F. A. Hayek Program for Advanced Study in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, at George Mason University and Visiting Professor at King’s College London (2023). Co-Director and Principal Investigator, “Modus Vivendi, Polycentrism, and Institutional Diversity”, Center for Governance and Markets - University of Pittsburg (2019 - 2024) and Director, “Resilience and Stability in Polycentric Governance Systems, National Council for Scientific Research Romania (2021 - 2023).

Dr. habil. (Babes-Bolyai University); Ph.D., Political Science (Indiana University Bloomington) and M.A., Philosophy (Bowling Green State University). Doctoral degrees in Economics (Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest) and Sociology (University of Bucharest).

Author, co-author and editor of more than twenty volumes. Articles published in academic journals such as American Political Science Review; Public Choice; Administration & Society; Constitutional Political Economy; Futures; Governance; Policy Studies Journal; East European Economics, Review of Political Economy, Comparative Economic Studies, Comparative Strategy Revue Française d'Economie ; Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly; Journal of Sustainable Development; Social Philosophy & Policy.
Former Adviser of the Romanian Vice-Prime Minister and Program Partner for organizations such as US Agency for International Development (USAID), World Bank, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Founder of the Center for Institutional Analysis and Development Bucharest.
