Ulrich Schmid - Biography#


Ulrich Schmid studied German and Slavic literature at the Universities of Zürich, Heidelberg and Leningrad. He received his PhD from the University of Basel in 1995. From 1992 to 2003 he taught at the Slavic Department of the University of Basel. 2003 he was appointed assistant professor at the University of Berne. From 2004 to 2007 he was professor of Slavic Literatures at the University of Bochum. Since 2007 he is professor of Russian Culture and Society at the University of St. Gallen.
