Guibin Jiang - Biography#

Prof. Guibin Jiang is an internationally acclaimed scientist in environmental science, analytical chemistry, and toxicology, renowned for his contributions to the study of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and emerging pollutants. His pioneering work includes establishing China's sole UNEP-designated Pilot Dioxin Laboratory, capable of analyzing all POPs under the Stockholm Convention, and developing the world's first Integrated Toxicology Analyzer, patented in both China and the United States, to identify unknown toxic emerging pollutants. As a technical expert for China's implementation of the Stockholm Convention on POPs and the Minamata Convention on Mercury, he has significantly contributed to global environmental policy, including the UNEP Year Book 2013 and Global Environment Outlook-5.

He was invited to establish the Asia Office of Environmental Science and Technology (ES&T), and served as Associate Editor from 2006 to 2025. He has chaired numerous international conferences, including initiating the International Symposium on Persistent Toxic Substances in 2004, now a major global forum held across Europe (Greece in 2024, Switzerland in 2018, and Germany in 2016), North America, and Asia.

He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Antwerp (Belgium). Since then, he kept a longstanding collaboration with the European scientific community and he has continuously supported young researchers in pursuing academic exchanges in Europe. His sustained contributions have significantly strengthened China-Europe scientific collaboration.
