Karen Eguiazarian Biography#
Karen Eguiazarian (Egiazarian) received the M.Sc. degree in mathematics from Yerevan State University, Yerevan, Armenia (1981), Ph.D. degree in physics and mathematics from Moscow State University (1986), and Doctor of Technology degree from Tampere University of Technology, Finland (1994). He is a Professor in Signal Processing, Tampere University, Tampere, leading the Computational Imaging Group, and Docent with the Department of Information Technology, University of Jyvaskyla, Finland.
His main research interests are in the fields of image and video restoration, computational imaging, computational optics, digital holography, phase microscopy, compressed sensing, efficient signal-processing algorithms, and image compression. He has published over 850 refereed journal articles and conference papers, books, and patents in these fields. He has served as Associate Editor in major journals in the field of his expertise, including the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, and was the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Electronic Imaging (SPIE). Prof. Eguiazarian is a member of the DSP Technical Committee of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society.
