Visiting Scholar, Max-Planck-Institut fur Patent-, Urheber- und Wettbewerbsrecht in Műnchen (Germany), 1981; New York University (1985; 1988); Stanford University (1985); Washington University at Seattle (1994).
Visiting Professor teaching “European Industrial Property Law”, Columbia University, New York (U.S.A.), 2000.

Director, post-graduate course in Patent Law (1999) and in Trademark Law (2000) in the Post-Graduate School, Univ. of Catania.
Director, post-graduate School for the Legal Professions, Univ. of Catania, from 2001 to 2009.

Member of the Committee of the PhD Course (Corso di Dottorato di ricerca) in Commercial Law at the University of Catania and supervisor on the redaction of many doctorate thesis.
Dean of the School of Law of the University of Catania from April 2008.
Member of many Committees that have decided public competitions for the selection of new professors of Commercial Law.

Member of the Commission charged 4.4.2000 by the Italian Secretary of Industry to draft the text of the Italian Patent Law according to the EC Directive 98/44 on the legal protection of biotechnological inventions.
Member of the Commission charged 20.12.2001 by the Italian Secretary of Industry to reform the Italian Intellectual Property Law.
