Mario Clerici - Biography#


Mario (Mago) Clerici was born in 1960 in Milano, Italy. He received his MD (honors) from the University of Milano in 1985 and obtained a postgraduate degree in Internal Medicine from the same University in 1990. He trained for more than 6 years at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, USA, became an Associate Professor of Immunology at the University of Milano in 1993, and was promoted to Full Professor in 1999. He directed the PhD School of Molecular and Translational Medicine at the University of Milano from 2010 to 2017, and from 2017 he has been the Head of the Department of Physiopathology and Transplantations at the same University. Since 2008, he has also been the Scientific Director of the Santa Maria Nascente IRCCS, Don Gnocchi Foundation in Milano. From 2010, he has been a scientific advisor at King Saud University in Riyadh (KSA). He has authored more than 730 papers (>44,00 citations; h index >100) and has been awarded national and international prizes. He has also been involved in a number of international Scientific Boards and serves as an editor on a number of scientific journals. Finally, he is an honorary citizen of New Orleans in the USA, a Knight of the Italian Republic and one of the most cited scientists worldwide (http://www.highlycited.com).
