Career
Prof. Bolognesi's career has been constantly centered on the study of protein structure through X-ray crystallography and simulation approaches, with more than 400 papers published to date on the structural biology study of metallo-proteins, enzymes, viral proteins and proteins related to cancer (about 220 original depositions in the Protein Data Bank www.rcsb.org/pdb). Prof. Bolognesi has been one of the leading figures opening the field of protein structural biology through X-ray diffraction in Italy, setting schools and labs in different locations (U. of Pavia, U. of Genoa, and since 2005 U. of Milano), and training scholars who are today distinguished structural biologists in Italy and elsewhere in Europe.
