Wolfgang Baumjohann - Biography#


Wolfgang Baumjohann is Director of the Space Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Graz. He has worked on many aspects of space plasma physics and is presently Principal or Co-Investigator on half a dozen magnetospheric and planetary satellite missions. He has authored and co-authored over 600 papers in scientific journals and four books. He served as chairman, delegate, or member on more than a dozen scientific committees or editorial boards. He is Full Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the International Academy of Astronautics, Member and Council member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, and Fellow of the American Geophysical Union. He is recipient of the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art (First Class) and the Styrian Grand Medal of Honour, and Scientist of the Year (Austria, 2014).
