Summer School on Democracy: European States towards Migration Crisis #

Summer School on Democracy: European States towards Migration Crisis is the 4th edition of a project organised by the Institute of Political Science (University of Wroclaw) and supported by the Academia Europaea and New Eastern Europe.#


This year’s edition will take place between 20-29 June in Wroclaw and will consist of lectures, discussions and workshops focused on the European response to one of the most important social and political events in Europe: the migration crisis.

Opening ceremony will be held at Bar Barbara, on June 20, 2016

Our keynote speakers will be Prof. Dr. Klaus F. Zimmermann (Harvard University, Bonn University and UNU-MERIT, Maastricht) and Prof. Monica Roman.

Prof. Dr. Klaus F. Zimmermann
Klaus Zimmermann is full Professor of Economics at Bonn University since 1998 and member of the Bonn Graduate School of Economics, which also became part of the German “excellence initiative”. He is currently "on leave" at the Center for European Studies, Harvard University (March – August 2016) and in the Department of Economics, Princeton University (academic year 2016/2017). Zimmermann is also Honorary Professor at the Free University of Berlin and Renmin University of China in Beijing. He is a member of the Leopoldina, the German National Academy of Sciences, and of Academia Europaea, the European Academy of Sciences, and Chair of its Section for Economics, Business and Management Sciences.

Prof. Monica Roman
Monica Roman is professor at the Department of Statistics and Econometrics from Bucharest University of Economics since 2007. She teaches Business Statistics, Econometrics, Quantitative Research Methods; she has also worked at Research Institute for the Quality of Life and since 2011 is affiliated as research fellow at Institute for the Study of Labor, IZA.
