Date: 7:00 PM, March 13, 2014
Venue: Institut d'Estudis Catalans, Carrer del Carme, 47, Barcelona, Spain

Neuroscience and Economics is the first of a series of debates surrounding Neuroscience. The Institut d’Estudis Catalans (IEC), the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) and the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB) are the organisers of the Cycle «Neuroscience and…», with the support of the Barcelona Knowledge Hub of the Academia Europaea.

The brain has some of the hidden keys to the understading of economy on a global scale. One of these keys is the fact that we do not behave according to the laws of economy: in contrast to a common belief in the past, financial decisions are not based on thought but highly influenced by elements such as feelings and intuition. Neuroeconomy observes how the brain works when we evaluate decisions, when we categorise risks and rewards and when we interact with other economic agents.
