About The Geological Society of America#

The Geological Society of America (GSA) is a nonprofit scientific organization dedicated to advancing the study of Earth and planetary sciences (geosciences). It is one of the world's largest professional societies for geologists, geophysicists, paleontologists, and other Earth scientists. It was founded in 1888 in Ithaca, New York and has presently more than 25,000 members from over 100 countries, including researchers, students, educators, and industry professionals.

GSA encourages cooperative research among earth, life, planetary, and social scientists—fostering dialogue and advancing geoscience worldwide. The society advances geoscience through research, meetings, publications, and education - connecting scientists and society to better understand our planet and address its future challenges.

GSA events bring the geoscience community together to share research, exchange ideas, and build connections. From the large, annual GSA Connects meeting to regional section meetings and smaller, themed conferences, these events provide opportunities to learn about the latest discoveries, engage with experts, and grow professional networks.
