Professor Mihály Pósfai elected President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences#
Professor Mihály Pósfai MAE was elected President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences
. Professor Pósfai is a Professor of Geology at the University of Pannonia
, Hungary. His research has focused primarily on environmental mineralogy, including the study of the properties and formation of magnetic nanocrystals in living organisms. Throughout his distinguished career, he has received numerous honours and awards, including the Széchenyi Professorship Award (2000), election as Fellow of the Mineralogical Society of America (2010), the Academy Award of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2010), and the Széchenyi Prize (2016). Prof. Pósfai was elected as member of the Earth and Cosmic Sciences Section of Academia Europaea in 2021.
At the same time, the general assembly of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences elected Professor László Hunyady MAE as Vice President for Life Sciences. László Hunyady is Professor of Physiology at the Semmelweis University
, Hungary. He was elected as member of the Physiology and Neuroscience Section of Academia Europaea in 2012.
