With thriving Chapters already established in Africa, Asia, Latin America/Caribbean, North America and the Middle East, the launch of INGSA Europe brings a new dimension to the network’s global reach. Academia Europaea Cardiff’s Hub Manager, Louise Edwards, and Hub Manager of Academia Europaea Budapest, Gergely Böhm, were among the invited participants, highlighting AE’s active role in shaping conversations around evidence-informed policymaking across Europe.

The two-day event featured sessions covering a range of themes, including trust and trustworthiness in science advice, the role of early-career researchers (ECRs), and knowledge security. The conference ended with a discussion on ways forward for INGSA Europe.

Participants represented a broad range of institutions, from academies and universities to the European Commission, the Joint Research Centre (JRC), and leading publishers. Among them were Wim van Sarloos MAE (President of EASAC), Helen Eenmaa (President of YASAS) and Tarmo Soomere MAE (President of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, 2021 - 2024).

Academia Europaea is delighted to have taken part in this important launch and is engaging in the next steps for INGSA Europe. Reflections on the conference can be found here: INGSA-Europe inaugural conference: Science advice across boundaries – INGSA.
