Call for Reviewers – DARA PhD Fellowship Programme#
The Danish Advanced Research Academy

DARA will support a new generation of excellent PhD researchers addressing urgent societal challenges through scientific innovation, interdisciplinarity, and international collaboration.
We are currently seeking reviewers across four overarching scientific domains:
- Bioscience and biomedicine
- Natural and technical sciences
- Biotechnology
- Data and computer science
Reviewer Eligibility#
- Open to researchers holding the rank of Associate Professor or above (or equiv-alent seniority).
- Reviewers must not be affiliated with Danish institutions.
Reviewer Responsibilities#
As a DARA reviewer, you will:
- Evaluate applications using a structured framework with four core criteria: Pro-ject Quality, Candidate Excellence, Feasibility, and Potential Impact
- Provide a numerical score (1–5) and concise written comments
- Uphold DARA’s principles of academic rigor, fairness, and impartiality
- Respect DARA’s Code of Conduct, including ethical compliance and conflict-of-interest policies
- Each application consists of a brief research summary, a detailed 1,500-word project proposal, a motivation letter, the applicant’s CV and transcripts, and a supervisor’s support letter. Optional materials may include a mentor CV and a short description of the research environment.
Each reviewer will be compensated €70 per evaluation.
Timeline of Duties#
- 12 September – Review assignments distributed
- 15 October – Deadline to submit evaluations via our online platform
- 31 October – Deadline for feedback from online consensus meetings

- The scientific domain(s) you are available to review
- A short CV
- 10 keywords describing your expertise:
- 5 general keywords (e.g., molecular biology, systems engineering, syn-thetic biology, AI)
- 5 specific sub-field keywords (e.g., RNA regulation in disease, catalysis under extreme conditions, CRISPR optimisation)
These keywords will help us match your expertise to the most relevant applications.
To be involved in the first round of DARA applications, kindly submit the information above to us before the 15th of August.
